Frequently Asked Questions

Who is this watch suitable for?

For people looking for an emergency call watch with modern technology and an elegant look – as a daily companion in everyday life, at home and on the go.

In an emergency, an alarm can be triggered via the watch. This establishes a telephone connection so that a direct conversation can take place (hands-free function).

If you only have the basic tariff, all stored emergency contacts will be called one after the other.

If you have the call center add-on and none of your emergency contacts can be reached, the local emergency service will be alerted.

Yes! You can define an upper and lower limit. If this limit is exceeded or fallen below, a pre-defined emergency contact will be automatically alerted. Please note that the James emergency watch model R9 is not a medical device. Therefore, 100% accuracy cannot be guaranteed.

However, for contacts there is the JAMES app, which offers additional convenience: It allows settings to be adjusted on the watch and important information such as the location to be easily accessed.

The JAMES app is primarily designed for the convenient management and overview of the James emergency watch model R9. Relatives and caregivers can use it to see the watch's current status and easily adjust settings.

Important: Regular helpers do not need the app to be able to react in an emergency.

The free app is particularly useful for family members, allowing them to use features such as location tracking and managing emergency contacts. The JAMES app is available for Android and iOS, and for maximum flexibility, it can also be accessed via a web portal in a browser.

Yes. The James emergency watch model R9 has a fall sensor.

Important note: As with all emergency watches on the market, the fall detection feature cannot reliably detect every type of fall due to technical limitations. This is also intended to prevent false alarms. The James emergency watch model R9 is not a medical device.

Examples of different types of falls

  • Dizziness: Slow descent, bracing oneself (e.g., against a chair), and only then falling over. The impact is minor, yet injuries can still occur – such cases are more difficult to recognize automatically.

  • Tripping: A fall, e.g., over a carpet edge with a hard impact, is usually easily detected.

  • Unintentional movements: For example, striking the table with one's hand. JAMES can often recognize such situations as potential false alarms and not forward them to helpers.

  • Adjustable sensitivity: Three levels (high / medium / low) – depending on how sensitive the detection should be.

  • Reducing false alarms: After a fall is detected, the wearer has 20 seconds to cancel the alarm directly on the watch. Additionally, JAMES automatically checks whether movement patterns are more likely to indicate a false alarm.

  • Alarm can also be triggered manually: In many situations, the emergency call at the push of a button is the most reliable option – especially since most people remain responsive after a fall.

Note: To ensure protection, the watch should be worn as continuously as possible – this way, help can be called in an emergency (e.g., in case of a fall, fear or danger).
